Nine Killed in a Mall in Omaha, Nebraska

OMAHA, Neb., Dec 5 (Reuters) - A gunman opened fire from a balcony in a shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday, killing nine people and wounding five, police said. The man believed to be the gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said police officer Sgt. Teresa Negron. Authorities did not believe there was another gunman at large, she said. The mall had been sealed off. Dozens of shoppers and store workers were seen leaving the mall earlier with their hands up. Others were told by security staff to take cover, with some retreating behind locked doors in storerooms. President George W. Bush gave an address in Omaha on Wednesday morning but had left the city hours before the incident.
